If you’ve noticed that there’s an extra “spring” in your step then you must be feeling the effects of the season. As the evenings lighten and the world bursts into bloom, it’s the perfect time of year to celebrate your local community in Orangeburg, SC. Here’s our list of spring activities to help you make the most of the area.

Two people on a Spring hike near Orangeburg, SC.

1. First Fridays Summer Concert Series

One reason why spring is a wonderful time of year is that there’s no need to feel sad when it comes to an end. Welcome the summer in with an open-air party on June 2 at Summer Fest. Held in the Downtown Market Pavilion at 6 pm, this event will feature live music, food trucks, and entertainment.

It’s also a great opportunity for a beer if you’re of legal age, but remember to drink responsibly and in moderation, and please don’t drink and drive.

2. Be The Bridge: Foster SC WalkAThon

A walk in the fresh spring air is always a wonderful thing, but on May 20 from 10:30 to 4 pm it will be helping a wonderful cause as well. Be The Bridge has organized a WalkAThon to raise funds for kids in emergency foster care, starting from Centennial Park. You can register individually or as a group to take a stroll along Riverside and afterward enjoy the entertainment, games, competitions, activities, live music, and food from a variety of vendors.

3. Farm to Table at the Downtown Market Pavilion

Now that springtime is here, you’re hopefully already benefitting from the array of fresh produce on sale at the Farmers Market at 1326 Russell Street from 10 am to 1 pm on Saturdays, and 3 pm to 6 pm on Tuesdays. And on June 8 at 6 pm there’ll be an opportunity to sample the very best of the season’s bounty with a four-course meal cooked to perfection by Dupre Catering. Tickets are available online, so book a trip to the Downtown Market Pavilion.

4. Gospel Jazz in the Park

Make the most of the balmy weather and the peaceful surroundings of Centennial Park at the very first Gospel Jazz in the Park festival on June 3. Starting at 4 pm, you’ll be able to watch local jazz bands performing, as well as take part in activities, mingling with the community, and sampling food from local vendors.

It’s a great excuse to get outdoors and absolutely free, so pack the lawn chairs and the hamper into the spacious trunk of your Honda CR-V and head on down!

Springtime is the perfect season to reconnect with the local community, and Orangeburg is the perfect place to do it. And while you’re out making the most of the weather and the all-new feeling that comes with spring, don’t forget to pay us a visit at Superior Honda and see the latest arrivals in our inventory.
