The vehicles we drive require maintenance to ensure they are performing at their best. One area that our cars need to have maintained is their brakes. If you aren’t sure if you need a brake repair, your Honda dealer can help.

Car mechanic working on brakes near Orangeburg, WI

1. Sounds

If your brakes are making abnormal sounds, this is a sign that you need to get to the shop soon. Two sounds that you should be wary of are screeching and grinding. Screeching indicates that your brake pads are no longer at the right thickness. Waiting to replace the brake pads can damage your braking system, so don’t hold off for long.

The second sound to be cautious of is grinding. Grinding indicates that there is metal-on-metal contact. Again, this is an instance where you should visit the mechanic as soon as possible to limit the damage to your vehicle.

2. Abnormal Braking

Once you have driven your car for a while, you know what it feels like when the brakes are working normally. If you need to put your foot on the floor before your vehicle stops, something is very wrong. Likewise, your brakes should not be extremely sensitive.

If your brakes are behaving oddly, it is a good sign that they are going to fail soon. Get your vehicle to a trusted mechanic to have them diagnose the problem as quickly as possible.

Another sign that your brakes are going to fail is vibration from your brake pedal. This vibration indicates that your vehicle is having an internal issue. While it may not be the most severe, it can lead to significant damage to the vehicle over time.

3. Abnormal Driving

If you are driving and the vehicle begins to behave oddly, like pulling to one side, it can be a sign that your brakes are having trouble. There could also be an issue with your suspension or steering. Have the vehicle inspected as soon as possible.

4. Fluid

Your car should not be leaking fluid. If you notice fluid leaking from your vehicle, get it to the mechanic. Your brakes cannot function without brake fluid.

If your vehicle’s brakes need repair, don’t wait until after your car is damaged. Contact us at Superior Honda to schedule an appointment with the certified technicians in our service department today.
