Long-time drivers are no strangers to engine problems, but it can be tough to decide the best place to go when they happen. There are lots of independent auto repair shops out there, but none of them can hold a candle to your Honda dealership. The mechanics at your Honda dealer have all the latest diagnostic equipment and knowledge to fix every new Honda release, so it’s definitely the place to go when you’re having trouble.

1. An Illuminated Check Engine Light

When your check engine light comes on, it’s difficult to tell what the actual issue is. You’ll need to visit the dealer so the skilled mechanics there can dive in and figure out the problem your car is having. Once they know what the issue is, they can repair it promptly. Honda mechanics see Honda vehicles with problems day after day, so it usually doesn’t take very long at all to diagnose the problem and get it dealt with.

2. An Exhaust That’s Producing Smoke

Car tailpipes let out gases, but these gases aren’t generally visible unless the weather is very cold. Even in cold weather, you’ll only see a small amount of exhaust fumes for a couple of seconds before it disappears. However, if there is a lot of smoke coming out of your exhaust pipe, then there’s a problem with your engine or fuel system. Visit the dealer whether the smoke is black, white, or gray.

3. A Problem with Your Gas Mileage

Lots of different engine issues can contribute to worse gas mileage than usual. If your fuel tank is draining faster than it typically does, then you’ll need to go and get the issue diagnosed at the dealer. Dealership mechanics are typically fast at fixing all of the problems that cause poor fuel efficiency. Common reasons you’ll experience reduced gas mileage include faulty O2 sensors, clogged fuel filters, or an engine that’s full of debris or dirty oil.

4. An Issue with Stalling

Stalling means your car needs immediate attention. Different parts of the engine can become faulty and contribute to stalling, and some electrical issues can cause stalling, too. Mechanics at your dealership will need to thoroughly inspect your car and repair the problem.

5. An Overheating Engine

Many parts of your car can overheat, including the engine itself. If your engine overheats, then it may be a sign that you have low oil pressure or low-quality motor oil cycling through the engine. You could also have a problem with your cooling system, meaning the engine can’t cool down enough to avoid overheating.

Whether you’re having engine issues, electrical problems, or simply need some routine maintenance, there’s no better place to go than your dealer. Come to Superior Honda for your next car repair.
